A photograph keeps a moment from running away.

The extraordinary thing about photography is that it freezes a fleeting moment in time — allowing you to relive it for a lifetime. The image never changes, even as your children grow, seasons shift, and life moves forward.

How does this thing work?

01. Say hello

Ice-breaker and fit check.

Once you contact me through the form or by email, I'll get back to you within 24 hours to set up a time for a video or phone call.

During our call, we’ll discuss:

  • What do you want to focus on during our session?
  • Your goals and hopes for our time together.
  • Who else might be joining our session?
  • Where would you like the session to take place?
  • How payment will work.
  • At the end, you can ask any questions you have.

My goal is to support you, plain and simple.

02. Reserve

Let’s lock it in!

After our call, I'll send over our contract that outlines what we discussed during the intro call.

You'll also receive an invoice.

The invoice includes a retainer fee, a non-refundable fee required to lock in your date.

The remaining balance is due 3 days before your session.

03. Planning

Planning gives peace.

We know the who, what, where, when, and why.

But now we lock in the little details like outfits, activities, and exact location.

To help get the creative juices flowing,

I'll send you a general style guide and a Pinterest board tailored to your vision.

Before your session, I'll send you a "Day of Checklist".

The hope here is that it'll help you relax and feel confident that we've got this!

04. Go Time

It is time!

I'll be there early, but that doesn't mean you have to be. I'm a mom of two boys, and I get how hard it is to leave on time, especially when the kids forget how to put on socks or know where they put their shoes.

Once you arrive, we will be in a warm-up. Allowing everyone to take a breath and adjust to me being around. During this time, I'll be following your lead and the kids'. I know our vision, but we will also be adjusting to fit what the kids direct.

Please don't stress if the kids are, well, being kids. I can find a way to get a smile, even if they aren't "in the mood".

05. Delivery

They are here!

Within 3 weeks, you'll receive an email welcoming you to your private online gallery, where you can download and share all your images! You can also share your full online gallery with your friends and family!

You will also have access to my professional print labs, which offer Christmas cards, prints, framed prints, albums, etc.

This can be overwhelming, so I'll reach out to see if you would like to schedule a video call so I can answer any questions you might have around prints or discuss any minor adjustments you would like to see.

06. Review

This step is optional, but recommended.

I want to make sure you have everything you need. I truly give my all to each of your images. If there is anything you would like adjusted, please let me know, and I will make it happen.

Please take a look at the print store. Using a professional print lab will produce more artful delivery than going to your local Walmart.

And after all we've invested in this experience, I want the best for your prints.

00. Notes

02. Reserve

  • The retainer fee is deducted from your balance.
  • Payment plans are always accepted. We will work together to include it in your contract.

04. Go Time

  • Even the best of planning can't compete with a toddler. Don't fear, if there's an unexpected stomach bug or emergency, we can reschedule up to three times.
  • A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to be eligible for rescheduling.

05. Delivery

  • Images downloaded by Friends and Family are subject to a fee.
  • Up to 3 complementary image retouches are included.
  • Image retouches are for minor items and do not include: changing clothing colors/patterns/styles, Photoshop tummy tucks, or adding people.

FAQ

What type of photographer are you?

I’m a documentary photographer who specializes in capturing real, unscripted moments. I know most people feel awkward or unphotogenic in front of the camera, so I gently guide you via prompts, just enough to help you relax and be yourself- no stiff poses, no pressure to perform, just natural moments that actually feel like you.

Documentary style is selective, not exhaustive. Shooting every bridesmaid walking down the aisle is coverage, not storytelling.

Why Choose Documentary & Storytelling Photography?

Not every photography experience feels the same — and that’s the magic. Documentary photography captures life exactly as it unfolds, while storytelling photography uses intentional light and gentle guidance to evoke deeper emotion. Both styles are honest, beautiful, and true to your story.

I create galleries filled with laughter you can almost hear, tiny yawns, messy cuddles, sibling bonds, and golden-hour gatherings. No stiff poses. No forced smiles. Just real life, beautifully preserved for you to relive for years to come.

What to Expect from Your In-Home Family or Newborn Session?

1. Warm & Relaxed Vibe: We start with coffee, playtime, or casual chatting so I blend into your world.
2. Generous Time: 2–3 hour in-home sessions allow space for snacks, meltdowns, and authentic moments.
3. Real Life, Real Homes: Toys on the floor? Perfect. Wear what feels like you — superhero pajamas welcome.
4. Gentle Guidance: I follow your baby’s rhythm and your family’s natural flow for stress-free newborn, maternity, and lifestyle sessions.

These aren’t just photos — they’re future treasures of this fleeting season. From cozy bed cuddles and sleepy feeds to backyard adventures and family routines, I document the truth of your home and heart.

How do you help families feel comfortable and natural?

It's simple, really; I intentionally get to know you and your story. I send out questionnaires, and we choose a location meaningful to you. We take our time, and we build in a warm-up/ice-breaker in every session. We use prompts (not poses) to spark natural emotion rather than forced smiles.

Do you travel for shoots?

Absolutely!
I'm available for hire in the Appalachian foothills and beyond. Previous travels include Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Oregon. Contact me for an out-of-state quote.

When can I expect to receive my photos?

This will be specifically called out in your contract. A few factors can impact this schedule.

But on average, galleries are delivered between 3 and 5 weeks, with several sneak peeks delivered within 48 hours.

What does your wedding shot list entail?

I focus on telling the story of your day, not just covering it. That means I'm not chasing every single bridesmaid down the aisle. Instead, I'm watching for the moments that actually matter: the way your dad looks at you before he walks you down, the quiet emotion on your groom's face as he sees you for the first time. I'm there to capture the heart of your wedding, not just the checklist.

Are weddings more expensive than a regular session?

Yes. The short of it, yes, weddings are more expensive per hour than a "standard" session.

But you have to consider what is at risk with a wedding that isn't on a regular day—the emotional and time investment by the bride and groom, the one-and-done opportunity to capture.

As a photographer, I keep multiple camera bodies on me, so if a camera fails, I'm still covered and so is the wedding. But there is also the stress of the day, the timelines that are always too short to get everything done.
